Apentemma A single-headed carved wood drum found in West Africa among the Ashanti people of central and western Ghana. It features elaborate carved designs around the shell and a symbolic "eye" with a contrasting pattern carved halfway up the drum signifying the place where the spirit of the drum is said to reside.
