Turbidity Currents Movies

Density Currents (Turbidity Currents) Movies: The E&ES department has a 1 m long tank with a gate to hold a higher density liquid. The angle of the tank can be varied, as can be the density of the liquids. This allows different flow conditions to be established. These can be recorded with the digital camera and made available to students to look at and then to make calculations about the rate of flow under different conditions.

Future Possibilities

• Create clips and interface that allows users to see 2 or 4 views at once.
• Create and add larger versions of movies - for higher screen resolutions.
