Music in the Afghan North 1965-72

This website presents fieldwork and publication materials from Mark Slobin's research in Afghanistan. There are three layers of organization, with increasing access to the technical materials of the study:

1. An introduction to the ideas and topics with capsule summaries;
2. Links to excerpts from the book-length study;
3. The entire book itself, Music in the Culture of Northern Afghanistan (1976)
4. Still photography, moving picture clips, and sound clips accompany the written text.
