The Yearbook for Traditional Music reviews The Music in the Afghan North website

In the 2004 issue of The Yearbook for Traditional Music, Janet Sturman has reviewed The Music in the Afghan North website. She has these nice things to say, "Slobin's efforts to stimulate our critical faculties should be widely appreciated. The events preceding and following the 2001 American intervention in Afghanistan have stimulated renewed interest in the music of that county. Those who turn to this site will find information on the people, the general culture, music as culture, shared music, and music associated with specific contexts such as weddings, tea houses, military operations, radio broadcasts, and town life. For each topic, the menu of options typically includes video and audio clips and an array of photos and images. The unit on ethnic subcultures includes an outstanding array of recent maps."
